Love Will Tear Us Apart: Balancing Product, Framework, and Community

Time slot:
March 9th, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Room:
Michigan A/B
Problem:

Drupal's success has lead to a steady crescendo of attention -- more users, more developers, more funding, and more tug-of-war scuffles over the platform's direction. If we don't make difficult choices about what we want it to be and become, we'll miss out on Drupal's potential.

Proposed solution:

A new "Standard" install profile that caters to small groups of people that want to tell others about their shared interest.
Ensure other install profiles don't *have* to use the same workflow and presentation conventions as "Standard."
Prioritize content staging and deployment features / fixes.
Make all configuration exportable in Drupal 8.
Learn to say, "Drupal isn't for you."
