Social Network Integration (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, and more): Janrain Engage and Other Solutions

Room:
Erie
Time slot:
March 10th, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Are you interested in allowing your Drupal users to login with their accounts on popular social networking sites? Would you like these users to easily share Drupal content and comments on these networks and drive traffic back to your website?

If you can answer "yes" to either of these questions (I know I can!), let's meet up, brainstorm, discuss, and demo various existing solutions.

I'll be drawing upon my work on the Janrain Engage module (http://drupal.org/project/rpx), so if you've used this module before, you should definitely attend.

But if you've used other solutions for social network integration, I'd love to hear more about those possibilities, too.

So let's meet up and figure out how we can leverage third-party social network APIs to integrate and promote our Drupal websites!

Any comments on the bof ?

Hi Ben and rest of you who attended the bof. Can someone outline some of the key topics discussed for those of us who couldn't attend ? maybe possibilities available, pros and cons ? or anything of interest that you can share will be much appreciated !!

Thanks,
rafa.

We were evaluating Janrain

We were evaluating Janrain for a time, but then found something on the site about each login or share above and beyond the limit costing something like $0.20. At the scale we were working with, that would be absolutely unacceptable. I unfortunately can't find the reference on the site anymore, but correct me if I'm wrong. Janrain seemed well and fine for testing, but in production use, the costs seemed to SOAR to ridiculous levels (particularly considering we could just patch into Facebook Connect essentially for free.
