As web site developers, you will find yourself managing more and more web-severs as time goes on. Eventually managing one server at a time becomes tedious and leaves room for error. Open-source configuration management tools that will allow you to configure your server programmatically and help keep your sysadmin (and support) time to a minimal.

Agenda:

  • When should you consider using an configuration management tool?
  • An overview of how they work
  • Chef overview including setup and configuration
  • Sample configurations relevant to “drupalists”
  • Chef demo

This will build on the talk I gave at DrupalCamp Montreal - http://www.drupalcampmontreal.com/sessions/configuration-management-chef
