The explosive growth of Drupal has made it difficult for many Drupal shops to scale their talent supply to meet market demand. A number of Drupal shops have sought to overcome this challenge by establishing offshore development teams, in Asia, Central and Eastern Europe. Their experience demonstrates that offshoring is a viable option for firms seeking to quickly scale their organizations. However, early adopters quickly point out that offshoring requires new processes and capabilities that are not core to most Drupal shops.
This panel discussion is designed to explore the challenges and opportunities that offshoring and rural onshoring provide to the Drupal Community. The panelists will discuss best practices and core competencies based upon their real-world experience, the possibility of new transatlantic partnerships between European and North American firms, and the role that major international offshoring companies could play or not play as the Drupal Community further expands.
Please attend this session if Drupal is your business or if you’re considering the market as a Drupal business. These session also will be interesting to evaluators, analysts, media, and anyone new to the community who wants to learn more about it. The session will serve as both an introduction to open source offshoring as well as its current and future relevance to the Drupal Community.
