Drupal for business: why we need dedicated business networking events and how you could organize one in less than 50 hours

Last October, after only 3 days, we had to close registrations for the Drupal executives meetup (Drupal CXO 2010). In that time we signed up 64 Drupal executives and freelancers, representing 55 Drupal companies (generally with 10 to 30 employees) and over 700 Drupalistas from about 15 different countries.

The event was purposefully organized in high efficiency mode: there was 1 main organizer and the format was so chosen to reduce the required work for the organization. Despite or maybe even because of this, the event was a great success that made a real impact on some of the most networked people in our community. It brought closer together key companies in Europe and already today has resulted in new business collaborations.

The next Drupal CXO is going to take place on 25 May 2011, just before the Drupal Business Days in Helsinki (26.-27. may 2011). On that event we'll continue the discussion and continue strengthening the bonds between Drupal shops in Europe. We are convinced that this will make a big difference in making sure that in the future we'll be better able to cooperate with small shops across the borders and not miss out on the high profile projects that are being done in Drupal.
