Pimp My Admin

Track:

So you just spent months building a beautiful, usable site. But how usable is it for the content creators and administrators? Did you spend any time at all thinking about how your site would be used on the back-end?

One of the biggest challenges Drupal faces is client dissatisfaction with the administrative interface. Diverse as our clients are, one size cannot possibly fit all.

In this session I will discuss some useful techniques for building functional admin interfaces and tailoring those interfaces to your specific use case. While this is a usability session, it is not design-related.

Topics for discussion include

  • Why we might want to customize the admin
  • Using Views Bulk Operations
  • Using Draggable Views
  • User-friendly jQuery enhancements
  • Demos
  • Review of admin themes
Intended audience:

This session is intended for developers and site implementers who care about user experience, and who realize that administrators are users too.
