Continuation of the Core Conversation talks about Drupal 8 config propagation from dev => stage => live. We'll especially poke at the painful parts of David Strauss' proposal for a new writable dir in sites//config that holds json files.

  • from previous session:
    • new JSON .config file for each site - gets updated on settings page updates
    • possibility to do read-only (greyed out) admin forms on Prod, for example
    • could keep cached copy in the DB
  • declared variables would help with uninstall problem
  • for auditability, an option is to have logrotate style config files.
  • Dries is thinking about it; we can discuss on the Drupal Core g.d.o group
