Drupal for Policy, Research Institutes and Think Tanks

Room:
Huron
Time slot:
March 9th, 2:15 PM - 3:15 PM

Drupal and it's ability to marry professional networks with content publishing and collaboration has huge potential for think tanks, research institutions, NGO's, policy focused organizations and federal agencies.

These organizations are in the business of informing decision makers and influencers with the power of their ideas, and they face a unique set of challenges when it comes to using the web effectively. If you work for (or buil web tools for) organizations like these, you know that much of their organizational outputs follow very traditional (i.e. pre-web) paradigms for the creation, distribution, and collaboration of their ideas. They are very focused on briefs, white papers, position statements, books, academic research, and the like.

I'd love to have a conversation with:

Those building sites and applications for these types of organizations,
Representatives from these types of groups themselves
about:

How Drupal can help modernize their communications, collaboration, and data distribution efforts.

  • Share the most effective examples from other groups
  • Discuss common problems these organizations are facing and solving
  • Explore the potential for, and interest in a distribution tailored to policy-focused organizations' needs - OpenPolicy anyone? :-)

My dev roots are in helping some of world's most influential groups (like CGD, Brookings, USIP, The World Bank, several RWJ grantees, and federal agencies) think "web first" in how they create, distribute, and collaborate online to achieve a higher impact with their ideas. And we'd welcome the chance to share and discuss with others!
