After two years of discussion I put together a list (with illustrations) of what is so good about WP image handing, which in turn in my list of requirements for read Drupal basic image handling. I guess before Drupal has all this out of the box, we will have to put together matrix of modules, which, combined in some nice way, will enable a user to prefer Drupal over WP
