I'm wondering if there's any interest in getting together at the con to talk about forums? I should say up front that there is no way I could get up in front of a group of people to speak so this would be very informal getting together to discuss, not me giving any sort of presentation. But this is probably the only Drupal gathering I will attend at least for the next few years so if you want to talk to me face to face about forums in Drupal, this would be the time. :)

Count me in

Hi,

I would like to attend if possible. We are currently struggling with which forum to use: forums, advanced forums ...

thanks!
chris

.

Don't really need a BOF for that. If you need more features than core, go for AF. :)

Doesn't look like there's much interest in this. Doesn't surprise me but figured it wouldn't hurt to put the idea out there.

Michelle

Not sure about that

none of the postings here have a lot of comments yet -- this is one that I'd probably attend if it fits into my schedule, if for no other reason than to finally meet you, Michelle

.

Well, I'm sure we can meet up either way. As for schedule... No idea. I figured I'd see if there was any interest, first, and then see when people are available.

Michelle

definitely interested

I think there would be interest based on the comments on the program The Best Implementation of Drupal Forums http://chicago2011.drupal.org/sessions/best-implementation-drupal-forums

I know I would be.

.

Heh... I'd forgotten about that. Well, maybe he'd be interested in leading, then?

Michelle

I would be interested in a

I would be interested in a BOF about hacking on AF :)

I'd definitely be interested

I'd definitely be interested in this!

I'd be interested too

I'd love to chat about Forums!

Hello Mrs Liam. :)

Well, sounds like there's some interest, after all. Any particular time good? I'll be there Monday through Friday and am open outside of the scheduled events. I don't have any plans to leave the hotel as long as I can find food there.

Michelle

The only session block I

The only session block I don't have something marked for is Wed 5-6, but I would try to make it to this if was during another session. I could also do it outside the scheduled session times (early evenings would be best, though I can be flexible there).
I'm especially interested in allowing people to email posts to forums. Has anyone done that?

.

Would need to be outside of sessions for me. I don't think there's a single spot where there isn't at least one session I want to see and most have 2 or 3 that I'm going to have to decide between. LOL!

I know nothing about emailing to forums, sorry.

Michelle

@Dugnap - Haven't used this

@Dugnap - Haven't used this before, but check out http://drupal.org/project/femail

Thursday Evening?

Thanks Mike for the suggestion about Femail and Michelle for the response. Even if no one is doing exactly what I hope to be able to, I would like to meet other people working with forums. Not sure if it works for other's schedules, but Thursday evening after the closing plenary would work well for me.

.

I'm there through Friday morning so that works for me.

Michelle

+1

Subscribing.

Thursday works

Sounds good to me, should we claim a BOF slot?

The people I'm here with want to go for pizza that night (not for me - can't seem to find a place with gluten-free) so I'm free anytime.

I added a BoF spot.

It's pretty spare. If anyone has suggestions for how to improve it, I'd be happy to edit (or reschedule).
Also, I contacted Sergey to see if he could make it since his session proposal sounded so interesting.

Thanks for getting this going. It's been such a whirlwind since I've been here that I hadn't gotten back to it.

Speaking of pizza, that time slot is at supper time. Do we want to order a pizza or two? Will that bother mmcdermott if we do? I don't want to be insensitive... Just trying to figure out what I'm going to eat and going in on a pizza sounded like a good idea if that won't bother you.

Michelle

.

@mmcdermott - I just realized I put you in a bad spot and, if someone asked me that in that situation, I would say it wouldn't even if it did because I wouldn't want to be a bother. So, seriously, I really really want to know the truth. Be honest, not nice. I don't want to be sitting there eating pizza in front of you if you had your heart set on having pizza but couldn't because of your diet. :(

Michelle

gluten free pizza

I personally would pass on eating (I will still have to go home and make dinner that night afterward), but I did a quick Google search for gluten free pizza in Chicago with lots of results. Scanning the yelp result looks like there are a lot of options (http://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=gluten+free+pizza&find_loc=Chicago%...) . I don't know if these crusts are their regular crusts or if you have to specify, but Lou Malnati's has an interesting crust and I've heard good things about Aurelio's. But again, I have never requested gluten free, so I can't personally verify.
