I've read through the Kit spec multiple times, and I am pretty sure I am missing a connection between the common sense I see there and the distribution compatibility and extending features magic that are mentioned alongside Kit all the time.
The power of Kit comes from the ability to create a features module, such as Ideation, that will work alongside other features modules. It would be possible to create a features module like Ideation that would conflict with other projects. By following the common sense of Kit this is avoided.

It looks like Jeff Miccolis will also be jumping in the conversation to talk about kit specifications. Good times!
