With over 20,000 students, 4,000 staff and 30 buildings the Syracuse City School District is one of the largest public school districts in New York. The proposed session will cover:
- The implementation of Drupal district wide for the central site as well as a custom site and theme for each school building
- Documents and management strategies used when working on multiple sites simultaneously at multiple schools each with their own page names, custom CCK content types and custom views
- The non Drupral Drupal glossary
-
The session will take the attendees from the district’s starting point in March 2010 of a static FTP collection of sites to its current form.
The intended audience for this are designers who need to take a step back from the keyboard and enter the meeting room and for administrators who need help telling designers what they need out of their site. Connecting these two groups is critical for the success of a district wide implementation of Drupal. The administrators will benefit from the documentation and notification strategies that I will present while designers will take away techniques for talking about web content strategy and design without talking about these topics to the non technical users who they collaborate with.
