This session is a case study of a real life example of the migration to Drupal 6 performed by one of the largest e-merchant site in Europe.
The main features that are involved in this project are:
- a five states workflow using workflow, workflow access, module grants, revisioning and rules modules
- a custom language determination to be able to distinguish for example French Belgium (fr-BE) and French Switzerland (fr-CH)
- the use of composite module to build pages with complex layouts
In the first part of the session, the implementations behind these features will be detailed. Then, the presentation will focus on the staging aspect:
- the capacity of deploying (ability to deploy) content to the live website: use of node export module and custom developments to keep consistency among references
- the use of distinct platforms on the live website: one for visitors and on for contribution
This case study refers to a Drupal 6 project. However, most of the concepts will remain the same in Drupal 7. During the session many feedbacks will be given regarding the final solution. Most of them will be helpful for those interested in the subjects listed above.
This session will be interesting for anyone who wants to know more about the subjects listed in the description. It is the opportunity for each subject to view a possible implementation and the limitations if any.
Although some points will require an advanced level, the session targets an intermediate level.
