Alejandro Garza

-- a bit out of date! I've just joined Acquia --

I've worked for 15+ years at Tecnológico de Monterrey University in Monterrey, México. I created one of the first websites for the university back in the 90's running on (gack!) an Amiga 3000 running mainly ReXX scripts (gasp!), which then moved onto a NeXTstation (*!*) running shell scripts (*faints*). Some time after this horrible (but exciting!) mess I proceeded to build a more efficient mess using PHP, building several sites including various versions of the university's main Digital Library site. During this time I became involved in developing meta-search engines, learning about MARC, giving out library instruction, and more. A bit later I found out about Drupal, which we used to build a new version of the library website, which would also support the ISO 9001:2000 certification of all library processes (and during which I wrote the Millennium module). A bit later on, after 13 years at the Library I moved on to the Center for Innovation in Technology and Education where I currently build websites for its projects, mainly the multilingual OER directory Temoa, while leading a small group of developers.
