Developing for Drupal... on a Windows Machine

Track:
Coder
Experience:
Beginner

This session will show you how to setup an efficient development environment on your Windows machine, no prior Linux knowledge required.

"Linux!? I don't want to dual boot... I don't want to re-format.... I want to use my favorite Windows Programs!!!"
Don't worry! We're not dual-booting, not re-formatting, we're not even going to leave Windows.

Here's what you'll learn:

  • What is Virtualization?
  • Setting up a VirtualBox development environment
  • Introduction to Linux (Ubuntu specifically)
  • Developing on Ubuntu... from Windows

You'll learn how to use your favorite apps on Windows to develop sites on your own private virtual server.

If we have extra time we'll go through some other time-saving tricks such as code snippets.

Intended audience:

Drupal Developers who primarily use Windows and don't want to, or can not, change Operating Systems.
