At Drupalcon 2010 in San Francisco, the Salesforce BoF led to some really good brainstorming, and offered a chance for users and developers to meet one another.

Let's get together again in Chicago.

If there's enough interest, maybe we can divide the BoF into 2 parts - part 1 as an intro for beginners, and part 2 to address more advanced concerns.

Please post questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions in the comments.

background:
Salesforce Suite is a collection of Drupal modules to connect your Salesforce CRM to your Drupal site.

Online meeting?

Is there any possibility to attend the meeting online. (Like a skype or breeze meeting).
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Sashi G

Salesforce queuing

We had planned on hosting a BoF around queuing and bi-directional syncing to and from SalesForce. We're currently using the SalesForce API for our module. It might make sense to try and coordinate times and approach.

divide and conquer

I dunno if there will be enough people, but maybe it makes sense to divide among interest:
- one group tailored to site admins and module users to deal with issues like setup, configuration, synching, etc.
- another group tailored to site builders and developers concerning module development roadmap, features, architecture, etc.

I have literally no idea how many people to expect. Depending on the numbers, we might be able to accommodate both of these groups in a BoF session - sounds like the rooms are pretty large.
Or maybe the BoF should be wholly focused on the first group, and developers can get together in a less formal way?
With only 6 BoF rooms, I don't think two BoFs for a relatively niche interest is appropriate...
Thoughts?

Hard to judge

I think it depends on the size of the rooms and whether we can really get multiple semi-independent groups in there. I suspect there's a lot of overlap in the two groups, but not necessarily at a given point of time. Maybe split the time? Kind of Soloman-esque, but .... Either way, love to get together with you guys and talk about challenges and roadmaps because we're seeing a fair amount of continued interest in SalesForce from and to Drupal.

agree

so we both agree that there are at least 2 different audiences with some amount of overlap.

we'll do whatever makes the most to try accommodate everyone's interests fairly. e.g. if there are only a handful of developers, and a great number of site admins, we should spend more time on setup, configuration, and advanced use cases as opposed to the development roadmap.
