Drupal vs. Enterprise Content Management Systems

How does Drupal compare to the biggest vendors in the CMS market? Drupal is best understood as a broader set of functions and capabilities than a traditional Content Management System. It as a complete web site platform that includes CMS capability and more. This is extremely important for enterprises to understand when they evaluate Drupal against the "enterprise class" content management systems in the market. This talk describes what I learned from a major enterprise selection process for a Content Management System, and several years of evaluating Drupal alongside some of the biggest CMS vendors in the industry. I will describe the ways in which the category of Content Management Systems is not always the best category in which to evaluate Drupal. I will discuss the core concerns that large enterprises often bring to the table when evaluating Drupal, and how Drupal addresses these concerns. And I will talk about how to tell the Drupal story to enterprise decision makers.

Intended audience:

1) decision makers in enterprises evaluating Drupal 2) vendors and consultants who are pitching Drupal to large enterprises 3) individual contributors in a large enterprise who are pitching Drupal to management

If this gets in, please change the title

There is no such thing as "ECM"- if there is, please provide a definition (and one that does not include Drupal, since you've set this up as a Drupal vs. X). Besides that you use two other "buzz terms" that I'd like a definition for (before the session is accepted): enterprises/enterprise class & traditional CMS.

The title of this should be "Drupal vs. Proprietary CMS'" or something similar.
